TRSA continued its engagement with New York policymakers this week, attending a New York State Senate reception that brought together state lawmakers, stakeholders and other leaders from across the state.
The event provided TRSA with an opportunity to strengthen relationships with members of the New York State Senate and raise awareness of the linen, uniform and facility services industry, and its role in supporting healthcare, hospitality and other critical sectors throughout the state.
Discussions also provided an opportunity to highlight TRSA’s ongoing advocacy priorities in the state capital of Albany. These include legislation promoting the use of reusable healthcare textiles, as well as proposals related to textile extended producer responsibility (EPR) and microfiber filtration that could affect industrial laundry operations.
With the 2027 legislative session approaching, TRSA continues to emphasize the importance of ensuring that policymakers understand the textile rental industry’s longstanding circular business model. Linen, uniform and facility services providers extend the useful life of products through repeated use, professional laundering, repair and reuse, while supporting local jobs and essential customers across New York.
The reception also came just weeks ahead of New York’s November elections, providing an opportunity to hear directly from state lawmakers and other attendees about issues affecting communities and businesses throughout the state.
TRSA will continue building relationships with New York policymakers and engaging on legislative proposals that could create opportunities or operational challenges for members. Maintaining a strong presence in Albany and educating lawmakers about the industry will remain an important component of TRSA’s state advocacy efforts heading into 2027.
