Alsco Uniforms, Salt Lake City, recently donated $25,000 to The Salvation Army to assist in recovery efforts in Western North Carolina. They also are donating 500 motorist first-aid kits to the relief efforts of the NC Restaurant & Lodging Association (NCRLA) and the Petty Family Foundation. These donations will provide vital first-aid and financial resources for both immediate and long-term recovery efforts in the wake of destructive flooding left by Hurricane Helene.
As Hurricane Helene devastated the South, it hit Western North Carolina especially hard. Roads into towns were wiped out, and the floodwater severely damaged many water systems. The storm knocked out cell service across the region. Residents are still struggling to find safe sources of food and water. Alsco Uniforms also is supporting the laundry efforts of many hotels in the area to ensure clean linen is available for those displaced people who are sheltering at hotels.
“Alsco Uniforms cares deeply about the communities we serve,” said Bob Steiner, CEO, Alsco Uniforms. “The people and businesses of North Carolina have utilized our laundry services throughout the years, and we want to give back. We are honored to contribute to the community as they recover from this devastating disaster. We hope this can make a real impact.”
The Salvation Army is working tirelessly across Western North Carolina to deliver essential services like food, water, hygiene supplies, baby products, and vital cleaning and emergency supplies. They will use this donation to secure and distribute these supplies to the people who need them. As local organizations with long histories of philanthropy in North Carolina, the NCRLA and Petty Family Foundation will distribute first-aid kits to those who need them most.
