The European Textile Service Association (ETSA) recently announced the appointment of Dr. Thomas Neyers (Alsco Uniforms/Germany) as the new Chairman of ETSA. Dr. Neyers will succeed Andreas Holzer (Bardusch), who has successfully led ETSA since 2020 as the Chairman of the ETSA Board. Dr. Neyers will assume his role for a three-year term, starting on July 1. Since 2020, Dr. Neyers has served as the Treasurer of ETSA, and will be replaced in this capacity by Hartmut Engler (CWS).

Dr. Neyers brings a wealth of experience and expertise to ETSA. Having distinguished himself in the industry, Dr. Neyers hails from Alsco Uniforms, where he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership in his executive position and a steadfast commitment to the advancement of the linen, uniform and facility services industry.

“I look forward to continuing the good work of aligning the efforts of ETSA’s textile rental companies, suppliers and national associations so to strengthen the position of the textile service industry in the market and pursue our common interests and goals,” Dr. Neyers said. He is deeply committed to upholding the association’s mission and values in faithful continuity to the work done by Holzer and his predecessors.

Holzer’s presidency witnessed several remarkable achievements. One significant milestone was the successful implementation of various initiatives, campaigns, in-person events and webinars aimed at addressing the industry’s challenges, such as ensuring the safety of textile services during the pandemic and managing the impact of the energy crisis on operations, among other salient issues. Since 2020, ETSA underwent a comprehensive transformation, and the new strategic direction from the work of Holzer and ETSA Secretary General Elena Lai, in synergy with the ETSA Board and Secretariat, resulted in a renewal of ETSA, seeing it actively engage on behalf of the industry in an unparalleled manner. Speaking on his departure, Holzer said that, “It was an inspiring experience leading ETSA during these years together with the great team at ETSA Secretariat in Brussels. Together we successfully awakened and positioned the sleeping-beauty of the textile service industry, responding to a world asking for sustainability and successful circular economy business models. The business has always had and will always have a business model with a double circularity loop at its core, central to the industry’s very DNA, empowering us with competence and instilling confidence in our customers regarding great business service offers.”
