Five TRSA member companies took advantage this year of having their transportation operations rated by NAFA, the Fleet Management Association, with three finishing among the top 10 entrants in the commercial division and the other two ranking 11th and 12th.
In the private-sector judging of NAFA’s 100 Best Fleets, Miller’s Textile Services, Wapakoneta, OH, at No. 5, had the highest finish of the TRSA entries. Alsco Inc. (Salt Lake City) was 8; American Textile Maintenance (Los Angeles), 10; Crown Linen (Miami), 11; and Superior Linen Service (Tulsa, OK), 12.
Fleets that submit for the 100 Best Fleets are rated on:
- Accountability: metrics, benchmarks you use to document performance and progress toward objectives
- Asset, financial, fuel, maintenance, risk management
- Business Management: relationships and interactions for regulatory compliance, business planning
- Environmental, social, and corporate governance
- Professional development
- Use of technology and information
TRSA and NAFA are partnering to bring to TRSA members the subject-matter expertise of NAFA, the world’s largest membership association for individuals who manage the vehicular fleet and mobility responsibilities for their employers. The judging, which closed in January, was the first such promotion. TRSA members who attended NAFA’s Institute & Expo in April in Baltimore were able to walk up to the 100 Best Fleets judges’ table to receive their evaluations.
NAFA expertise also has been shared in presentations at 2023 TRSA events: Fleet Summit (held at the NAFA expo), California Regional Town Hall (May) and Leadership Summit (June). A TRSA Task Force is reviewing NAFA education and certification offerings to identify those of value to linen and uniform fleet managers for TRSA to promote these.
Details for entering the 2024 Best 100 Fleets will be available in the fourth quarter of 2023.
