The Hygienically Clean and Clean Green Certification Programs are continually evolving, and we are excited about the developments that the new year will bring. We are pleased to introduce TJ Peterson as the new auditor manager, joining a team of industry veterans dedicated to upholding the highest standards. Peterson took on this role in June 2024 and has significantly improved the processes and procedures of the audit program.
Many companies in the industry are family-owned businesses, and knowledge is passed from generation to generation. Peterson brings 26 years of experience with him to the audit team. He fondly recalls his beginnings in the industry, mentioning that, “My father brought me into laundries when I was a kid. I helped him on several occasions with projects servicing laundromats.” When he turned 18, he began working more closely with his father, a maintenance manager, and started by unjamming towel folders, which eventually led him to repair them as he learned to identify the causes of the jams.
Peterson emphasizes the importance of maintenance during the audit process, explaining, “We have to know countless codes and standards and how to implement them in the facility. With my background, I understand what it’s like to be on the other side of an audit and what the plants go through to prepare for one.”
The Hygienically Clean audit team can assist your facility in key areas of this process, including answering questions about the audit process, discussing language in the audit standards, and guiding you in preparing a QA manual for your facility. There is also the ability to have a pre-audit. Peterson adds, “An important aspect our members may not know is that we’re here to help you as well.” The audit team is dedicated to supporting your workplace and the industry.
Peterson believes the value of the Hygienically Clean certification is immeasurable, stating, “It shows your laundry cares about your community.”
As another successful year ends, reflecting on the strides many companies in the program have made, Peterson notes that some are “hitting home run after home run, and it is refreshing to see.” Peterson looks forward to the upcoming year as the auditor manager, thanks to the amazing team of auditors who have exceptional industry knowledge and know how to enjoy a good laugh.
“TRSA is thankful for TJ’s experience and expertise in guiding our audit processes and supporting our auditors,” said Samlane Ketevong, TRSA’s senior director of certification and accreditation. “His contributions have played a vital role in enhancing and expanding our program this year, and I look forward to the progress the new year will bring.”
The program will continue to develop, including the expansion of the Certification Customer Portal, the introduction of new auditors and revisions to the standards for Healthcare Certification.
