G&K Services Inc., Minnetonka, MN, recently sponsored the Windsor Spitfires annual “Stick it to Cancer” charity event in Windsor, Ontario. The team, from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), outfitted in custom pink jerseys and skate laces, took on the Plymouth Whalers. The event drew an estimated 5,000 fans.

G&K Services sold Spitfires’ branded pink beanies and toques to fans during the event. Donated autographed pink hockey sticks also were auctioned off. Proceeds from sales of jerseys, sticks and headwear will be donated to the International Dragon Boats for the Cure, a group dedicated to raising funds to support local health organizations engaged in the fight against breast cancer.

“We are dedicated to finding a cure for this disease and last night’s event was a great example of how we can come together to achieve this in a fun, positive and beneficial way,” said Kevin Fancey, president of G&K Services Canada. The fans received a pink microfiber towel provided by G&K to wave during the game, as they cheered on the Spitfires and joined the drive to put cancer on ice once and for all.
