Economic-development efforts in seven Pennsylvania counties recently received a $15 million boost, as 12 projects were awarded low-interest loans. The Lehigh Economic Advancement Project, Inc. was awarded a $2.25 million, 15-year loan at 2.25%, on behalf of Hospital Central Services Cooperative Inc. (HCSC).

HCSC plans to expand its existing facility in Allentown, PA, with a 21,000-square-foot addition. The total site investment is expected to exceed $4 million.

The company also has accepted a funding proposal from the Governor’s Action Team, which includes a $300,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant. “This is about growing our economy and creating family-sustaining jobs,” said Gov. Tom Corbett (R), in a news release.

The co-op will create 38 new jobs and retain its 162 current HCSC employees. HCSC provides healthcare laundry processing and linen service, as well as group-purchasing plans for healthcare supplies to hospitals and healthcare facilities.
