Described as a “socially engaged business, a true partner and a great example to other area employers,” Virginia Linen Service Inc. recently received the 2014 Service Partnership Award. This is an annual award given by the Association of People Supporting EmploymentFirst (APSE) and Chesterfield Employment Services (CES).

Director of Operations John Teyssier and General Manager David Leedy accepted the award on behalf of Virginia Linen. Both attended Chesterfield County’s Annual Recognition Event. “Virginia Linen values the CES staff and workers for their commitment and dedication,” said Leedy. “Working with CES has proven to be a worthwhile and enjoyable experience, and we look forward to a continued partnership.”

The company was nominated for their “exemplary partnership and service to the Chesterfield Community Services Board,” says CES Manager Phil Nussbaum. Virginia Linen has placed employees with disabilities into many aspects of their operation, including textile conservation, mending, laundry sorting, facility services and cart washing. Virginia Linen hires the employees directly and integrates them into each department, as well as encouraging them to participate in all social aspects of the business. In fact, many are involved with other company employees in activities outside of daily work.
