TRSA recently continued its monthly webinar series with a look back at the Clean Show, held April 16-19 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Dave Beavers, chief engineer, Crothall Laundry Services, Texas Medical Center Hospital Laundry, Houston, hosted the hour-long presentation and shared his insights on what he saw on the show floor.

“The show in Atlanta was a very good show,” Beavers said. “When I go to a show I’m looking at new or improved technology. Our industry is constantly changing, and technology keeps emerging. Every two years, we go to the Clean Show, look at the technology and how it applies to our industry. I look for innovation, anything that improves or enhances safety. I look at the quality of the machinery, how well it’s built. I also go for the networking; to actually put faces to people that I’ve talked to over the years.”

Beavers, who has more than 40 years of experience in the commercial laundry industry, looked at many different types of equipment and technologies at the show, including cart washers, dryers, finishing equipment and linen scanners, labor monitoring and plant productivity software, laundry bundling equipment, rail systems, RFID chipping technology, tunnel washers and washer/extractors, wash chemistry and water reuse systems. He detailed several of the companies whose booths he visited during Clean ’15:

  • American Dryer Corp.
  • ARCO/Murray
  • Automation Dynamics LLC
  • Brim Laundry Machinery Co. Inc.
  • Chicago Dryer Co.
  • Christeyns
  • Datamars

“I enjoyed the Clean Show; I think it was very well done,” Beavers said. “I think it has something for everyone, especially for engineers at your facilities. I would recommend sending them. There are a lot of good ideas exchanged on the show floor. You have experts right there on the spot that they can converse with, and find solutions. I see it as a good payback for their time, and I think it’s a benefit. If you haven’t sent them before, that’s a group of people that needs to go.”

TRSA’s next webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, from 2-3 p.m. EST. The topic will be “Driver Candidate Screening and Performance Monitoring,” presented by TRSA’s Safety Committee. Click here to register.
