Earth Day Message Targets Industry’s Key Green Promoters
TRSA commemorated Earth Day 2021 by providing member company professionals most responsible for advancing the industry’s sustainability agenda with ideas for such advancement through Clean Green certification. These individuals were encouraged to discuss with each other their companies’ potential to foster linen, uniform and facility services’ continued growth in the “circular” economy.
Sent to more than 500 engineering, environmental and marketing executives and managers, the April 22 message observed that the industry’s promotion of its reusable textiles over competitive disposable equivalents sets a standard for all businesses in clean and green operations. Production and delivery efficiencies complement already environmentally friendly practices. As new technologies are tested and new programs piloted, such as alternative-fuel vehicles, linen and uniform services raise the bar for each other and increase the industry’s commitment to improving the environment.
For more than two decades TRSA has driven the industry’s voluntary self-regulation, first prompting members at the millennium to quantify resource conservation success (Laundry Environmental Stewardship Program or LaundryESP) and later establishing quality standards through Clean Green certification. Progressive industry operators recognize how Clean Green compliance demonstrates responsible leadership through commitment to improving water- and energy-efficiency and adopting best-management practices for reusing, reclaiming and recycling resources.
