U.S. Rep. Brad Byrne (R) recently toured a Cintas plant located in his district in Mobile, AL.

U.S. Rep. Byrne was elected in a special election in December 2013. His move to Congress extended his public service career, which has included time as a member of the Alabama State Board of Education and the Alabama State Senate. U.S. Rep. Byrne also is an attorney, having practiced employment and labor law. This year marks the first time he’s running for a full term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The congressman sat down first with Cintas management, including Vice President Todd Gregory and General Manager Loka Mistretta, who outlined a history of the company and provided information on Cintas’ large presence in Alabama and the Gulf Coast region, from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle. Afterward, U.S. Rep. Byrne toured the plant, stopping at various departments from the finishing room to the soil sort area. Cintas’ Mobile plant currently is seeking to qualify for the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and staff hope to complete the process by early next year.

After the Aug. 14 tour, U.S. Rep. Byrne addressed the Cintas “partners” in the break room, answering employee questions about VA healthcare, education and the new bridge that would span Mobile Bay.

This tour is one of many that members of Congress have taken of TRSA-member plants in 2014, and several more are on the calendar before the Nov. 4 election.
