Ga (Amy) Kim, Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS)
Ga (Amy) Kim is the Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS) for the Baltimore District Office of the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division. The Baltimore District Office covers approximately 5.5 million workers and encompasses 21 counties in Maryland, 14 counties in northern Virginia, and Washington, DC. While the district responds to many actionable complaints, especially in the government contract program areas and the home care and food services industries, agency also focus on reaching the most underserved populations through strategic enforcement initiatives and outreach activities.
As Community Outreach Specialist, she is committed to have herself available to the employer and employee advocacy groups, students, community organizations, and government agencies, to promote and provide education and assistant with the various law under the department’s purview. The Wage and Hour (WHD) enforces and administers federal minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Additionally, WHD administers and enforces the prevailing wage requirements of the Davis Bacon Act (DBA) and the Service Contract Act (SCA), the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act (MSPA), the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), wage garnishment provisions of the Consumer Credit Protection Act, and a number of employment standards and worker protections as provided in several immigration related statutes.
Prior to her role as a CORPS, Ms. Kim’s primary role was that of a Wage and Hour Investigator. As a Wage & Hour Investigator, she conducted numerous compliance checks, enforcing the federal labor standards.
Cindy C. Maish, Community Outreach Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS)
Cindy C. Maish is the Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS) for the Richmond District Office of the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, and has worked for the U. S. Government for over 35 years. The last 25 plus years has been with the U. S. Department of Labor, Wage & Hour Division. Prior to working for the U. S. Department of Labor, Wage & Hour Division, Mrs. Maish, worked for Defense Logistics Agency and served in the U. S. Navy for six years. The Richmond District Office has jurisdiction for approximately 75 counties south of I66 and north of I77 within Virginia. She is part of the Northeast Region for Wage and Hour that encompasses 13 states in the eastern corridor as well as Puerto Rico.
Before her role as a CORPS, Mrs. Maish’s primary role was that of a Wage & Hour Investigator. As a Wage & Hour Investigator, she conducted numerous compliance checks under the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts, The Walsh-Healey Publics Contacts Act, The Service Contract Act, The Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, The Wage Garnishment Law, The Employee Polygraph Protection Act, The Family and Medical Leave Act and The Immigration and Nationality Act under the H-2A, H-2B, H-1C, D-1 and H-1B provisions.
Mrs. Maish’s mission is to promote and achieve compliance with labor standards to protect and enhance the welfare of our nation’s workforce. Her core role is to enhance the Agency’s overall effectiveness by facilitating, conducting compliance assistance and outreach to help educate employers and employees improve working conditions.
Karen Welton, Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS)
Karen Welton is the CORPS (Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist) for the Pittsburgh District Office of the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division. Prior to becoming CORPS in 2016, she was an Investigator for the Wage and Hour Division since 1997.
Karen has extensive training and experience in enforcing the Fair Labor Standards Act, Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and several other Federal labor laws including those dealing with government contracts, wage garnishments and H-2A and H-2B workers. She is the recipient of a Secretary’s Exceptional Achievement Award, Distinguished Career Service Award and an Administrator’s Impact Award.
She has also been a Trainer at Basic I national training for new investigators and at a Government Contracts Prevailing Wage Conference. She is a graduate of John Carroll University with a BSBA in Management and Spanish and served one year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in San Antonio, Texas.
