AmeriPride Inc.’s branch in Twin Falls, ID, is donating hundreds of pairs of surplus jeans and other garments to a local United Way office that will tap volunteers to remove the goods from hangers and take off company labels, according to news reports.

While the clothing is too worn for rental programs, the United Way of South Central Idaho plans to make this donated clothing available to homeless people, refugees, students and others in the community that can still get use out of the garments, said Sonya Haines, resource development director of the United Way. “We will be able to give high schools, food pantries and others in the area that need pants and jeans and smocks, as well as shirts, and the list goes on and on.” Any goods that are too worn out for people to wear can be repurposed as material for sewing quilts, or other alternatives, she said.

Zech Martinez, stock manager for AmeriPride, said the donated surplus garments otherwise would be shredded. This way, they can go back to the community. Click here for details
