Crown Health Care, Pensacola, FL, expects to open its new plant in Bishopville, SC, on Nov. 1 and is now recruiting employees to fill 70 jobs in the new plant that will service hospitals and clinics in South Carolina and Southeastern North Carolina, according to news reports.

Jimmy Tillman, a recruiter with Crown Health Care, a regional healthcare launderer with plants in several states, including Alabama and Mississippi, said he’s confident this new facility will quickly ramp up production quickly. “There are hospitals in South Carolina and North Carolina that I’m sure want to do business with us,” Tillman said. “There are not many places we go where that we don’t just take over the business for most hospitals.”

Crown generally services hospitals within a 250-mile radius, and it already has some regional customers lined up in advance of the opening, Tillman said. He added that Crown Health Care is a leading operator in the region, aside from a few much smaller providers of healthcare linens.

Job fairs and interviews were slated to begin Oct. 16 in conjunction with ReadySC, the training arm of the South Carolina Technical College System. It’s anticipated that the employee count will soon reach 80 as the plant begins operations in early November. Click here for details.
