To provide an advocacy update and an opportunity for information sharing and networking with linen, uniform and facility services colleagues across the state, TRSA will host a California Regional Town Hall on May 2. As added value for attendees, the Town Hall will be held in conjunction with the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo events in Anaheim, CA, from May 1-4. TRSA members who attend the Town Hall will gain admission to the exhibits.

TRSA VP of Government Relations Kevin Schwalb and VP of Operations Tom Newell will be joined by TRSA Advocacy Council CJ Cervantes and Bradley Northrup, who chairs the Pacific Southwest Chapter of NAFA, the Fleet Management Association.

Cervates will lead the discussion on key issues impacting California including the Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2023. The Act is a form of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles that would require apparel and home textile manufacturers in California to develop and pay for a system to collect and recycle textile products.

Active in NAFA advocacy, Northrup will update attendees from a fleet operator’s perspective on emerging California zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) rules. Chief among these: the CARB (California Air Resources Board) Advanced Clean Fleet Rule which aims to achieve a ZEV truck and bus California fleet by 2045 and significantly earlier for last-mile delivery such as linen and uniform service. Northrup will point out how ZEV enforcement must consider vehicle availability, charging capacity, tax policy, utility capacity and more.

At the conclusion of the Town Hall, attendees will visit the ACT Expo exhibits and participate in the “Ride-and-Drive” event.
