TRSA Holds HR, Safety Summits in St. Louis

TRSA recently hosted the seventh annual Safety Summit, with more than 70 participants sharing best practices and receiving advice from safety professionals in other industries to further decrease workplace risks in large-scale laundries. The association also held its second annual Workforce Management Summit the previous day at the same venue.

R.W. Martin Recognized for Workplace Safety

For the fourth consecutive year, R.W. Martin Co., Kent, OH, has been recognized for its efforts to prevent workplace accidents and injuries by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. The award was presented at the Portage County Safety Council’s annual awards meeting on May 10, and it recognizes the company’s perfect safety record for 2017.

Lyday Joins Lavatec as a Sales Support Engineer

A laundry industry veteran for more than 30 years, he will be primarily responsible for supporting field sales operations and providing project engineering services. He reports to Keith Ware, Lavatec’s vice president of sales.

Retired Tingue Exec Passes On

Tyrus (Ty) Raymond Acton Sr., 89, passed away on April 26. Acton began his laundry industry career working for Morris and Eckels. He joined Tingue, Brown & Co. in 1962 as a sales representative. Later, he became a regional manager before retiring in 1995.

TRSA’s California Title 22 Reform Bill Passed Unanimously

TRSA’s efforts to reform California’s Title 22 rule, which regulates the laundering of healthcare linen, recently took a huge step forward when the California State Assembly approved the measure by unanimous vote.  AB 2679, authored by Assembly Member Patrick O’Donnell (D-Long Beach), directs the California Department of Health to reform the outdated prescriptive method of laundering healthcare linens to include more modern, effective and efficient methods.
