During the March 30 awards dinner at the TRSA Legislative Conference in Washington, DC, the Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services Linden, NJ, facility will be honored as the 2022 winner of the TRSA Best Plant of the Year award.

TRSA held its 10th Annual Healthcare Conference from Nov. 17-18 at the Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West Hotel in Texas. Roughly 125 linen, uniform and facility services executives attended the event to learn about the latest in cutting-edge trends in healthcare, plus regulatory changes impacting the industry. They also reviewed developments in certification programs and networked with other high-level executives serving the healthcare sector.
NOVO Health Services CEO David Stern recently stepped down, with Karl Fillip II succeeding him on Nov. 1. In an interview with Textile Services Weekly, Stern confirmed that he’s retiring from healthcare. TRSA’s Hygienically Clean Food Safety certification for laundries serving food manufacturing and processing markets continues to attract more laundries seeking to promote their cleanliness in this market. Facilities most recently qualifying for the designation include Plymate Inc., Shelbyville, IN and Unifirst Corp., Nashville, TN. These additions bring the total to 103.
In the past year, 13 laundry plants achieved Hygienically Clean Healthcare Certification for the first time and another 16 recertified to this quantified, validated standard and measure for hygienically clean textiles in North America.
Plymate, a family-owned and operated uniform and mat supplier serving central Indiana, recently earned TRSA’s Hygienically Clean certification for food safety.
A 2½-minute animation that builds hoteliers’ confidence in textile cleanliness produced by outsourced laundries is available on the TRSA YouTube page to support linen, uniform and facility services companies that have earned the Hygienically Clean Hospitality certification.
TRSA recently announced the reinstatement of live and supplemental inspections, along with the commencement of depot inspections as of Aug. 1.
