After 42 years at Aramark, Lynn McKee, executive vice president for human resources, announced that she will retire at the end of this calendar year. The company plans for McKee to join the Board of Directors of Aramark Uniform Services (AUS) in connection with its spin-off, according to a news release.
Roughly six weeks prior to TRSA’s March 22-23, 2023, Legislative Conference in Washington, DC, the association will stage the first of a series of State Legislative Conferences, starting with the Golden State this Feb. 1-2, 2023.
TRSA offices will remain closed on Friday, Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas. The association’s global headquarters in Alexandria, VA, also will remain closed on Friday, Dec. 30, and Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year’s Day.
TRSA recently released the results of its Business Pulse Survey for the fourth quarter of 2022. The survey was conducted in November/December and received more than 60 responses from TRSA members. The respondents operate across a range of market sectors, including industrial/workwear, food-and-beverage, acute and nonacute healthcare, hospitality/hotels, and mixed operations.
Linen and uniform services with New York State hospital customers have a fast-disappearing opportunity to help make reusable isolation gowns and other protective garments a higher priority in their personal protective equipment (PPE) inventories. The state Department of Health has issued a request to hospitals to recommend by Dec. 30 methodology to revise PPE stockpile rules.
A new TRSA.org webpage links to research and reporting that linen, uniform and facility services can use to promote the greater sustainability of reusable textiles compared with disposable equivalents. The page, titled Reusables’ Competitive Edge, initially presents data proving that from manufacturing to disposal, reusables have less impact than disposables throughout their product life cycle and this translates to greater savings for users.
TRSA’s recently released Industry Performance Report shows many financial indicators improving to pre-COVID levels. Using 2021 financial data collected from TRSA members on a confidential basis and compiled by the MacKay Research Group, Boulder, CO, the TRSA report is the only industrywide research report that enables operators to compare their income statements, balance sheets, and financial and employee productivity ratios.
Now available for download, the 2022 TRSA Plant Employee Compensation Report provides detailed salary, wage and fringe benefit results for linen, uniform and facility services operators. This year, the survey was revised to include salary and hourly rates in ranges, instead of exact numbers.
It’s widely reported that today’s laundry operators face challenges in recruiting mid- or higher-level managers. CITY Laundering Co., Oelwein, IA, recently announced that it has acquired Lake Superior Laundry, Superior, WI. This acquisition expands CITY’s offerings, creating a new full-service healthcare division, according to a news release.
