Three years ago, Comcast Business added more than five miles of fiber optic network to Chicago’s Back of the Yards and Bridgeport neighborhoods, according to a news release. The network delivers internet speeds of up to 10 gigabytes per second (Gbps) – and up to 100 Gbps on a case-by-case basis – to nearly 300 small- and medium-sized businesses in the industrial and business area located in the city’s South Side. Access to such fast and reliable connectivity has been a boon to local businesses, including TRSA operator member Morgan Services Inc.
TRSA’s Women in Textile Services Committee recently conducted a survey of women in the linen, uniform and facility services industry and received responses from more than 100 female industry professionals who identified a range of concerns, goals and interests affecting their lives and careers. These included their biggest fears, challenges and frustrations on the job, as well as what they could do to be most effective at work.
TRSA associate member Gurtler Industries Inc. recently announced the addition of William McQuilkin, who will serve as the company’s manager of market development in the Queensland, Australia, area. McQuilkin brings to the role more than 12 years of experience in the laundry industry, according to a news release.
Cynthia Croatti, executive vice president of UniFirst Corp., Wilmington, MA, recently was selected by the YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts as an honoree for its annual Tribute to Women awards luncheon, which took place on May 16 at the Andover Country Club. Tribute to Women honors the work and community service contributions and achievements of a select group of outstanding women from the Merrimack Valley and North Shore regions, according to a news release.
Cintas Corp., a company best known for its industrial uniform rental programs, is increasingly active in the hospitality-garment space – enough so that the Mason, OH-based company recently received four Image of the Year Awards® for its work in designing and producing workwear for hotel, casino and resort staff members, according to a news release. The Superior Group of Companies, Seminole, FL, also scored well at the NAUMD program, winning three awards.
TRSA’s office in Alexandria, VA, will remain closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
Nominations are open through May 31 for the TRSA Lifetime Achievement and Service awards that will be presented at TRSA’s 106th Annual Conference in Boston, Sept. 17-20.
Cintas Corp., Mason, OH, recently announced that Matt Hough will move into the role of vice president and chief information officer (CIO), effective June 1.
